The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned a 21-year-old apprentice, Chiemerie Anieke, along with an alleged accomplice, Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, over the murder of his employer, Ikechukwu Nwite, and the theft of millions of naira.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on February 16 in Fegge, Onitsha, during a confrontation between the apprentice and his employer over suspected theft and drug use. Anieke was accused of striking the victim on the head with a pestle, leading to his death.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department arraigned the suspects before a High Court in Onitsha on March 18, 2026.

He added that the second defendant, Nwokporo, allegedly assisted in the crime by providing a bank account through which over N8 million belonging to the deceased was transferred.

Police also revealed that N6 million, believed to be part of the stolen funds, was recovered from the suspects and presented as evidence in court.

The defendants have been remanded in a correctional facility pending further hearing, while the police reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice and warned against criminal activities.
