The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has invited 94 candidates and several tertiary institutions for questioning over alleged exam registration malpractice and fake certificates.

In a statement shared on Tuesday, the board said the affected candidates include those suspected of seeking or paying for illegal assistance during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registration process. It also involves Direct Entry applicants from 2025 whose certificates have been flagged as invalid by their institutions.

JAMB disclosed that the candidates are expected to appear before a virtual investigation panel on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, by 10 a.m. Their registration numbers have been published on the board’s website under the “Solicitation Candidates” section.

According to the board, details for joining the virtual session have already been sent to the candidates via their registered phone numbers. It warned that anyone who fails to attend will be considered to have accepted the allegations.

In a related development, JAMB also summoned heads of institutions linked to questionable certificates. These officials are to attend a separate virtual meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
The board said the list of affected schools is available on its website under “Institutions with Outstanding Response.”

Checks revealed that about 43 institutions including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education are involved, with a total of 2,638 Direct Entry results still awaiting proper verification.

JAMB’s move is part of ongoing efforts to tighten the admission process and clamp down on fraud within Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
