Damilola Ayinde Marshall, the daughter of Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, has announced her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections.
Damilola, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made her political ambition known in an Instagram post on Tuesday, stating her desire to represent Surulere Constituency II.
“I am excited to step forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2,” she wrote, expressing confidence in her ability to deliver effective leadership.
A trained lawyer with over a decade of experience, she said her professional journey has equipped her with a solid understanding of governance, justice, and community needs. She also promised to be a strong voice for young people if elected.
“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need at this time,” she added, while urging voters to support competence and progress.
Damilola is expected to succeed the current lawmaker representing the constituency, Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, who is also a member of the All Progressives Congress.
An alumna of North America University in Cotonou and a member of the Nigerian Bar since 2015, she further earned a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.
Her declaration has since generated buzz on social media, with notable figures like Davido and Dayo Amusa showing support for her political move.
Damilola’s entry into the race signals a growing wave of youth participation in Lagos politics as the 2027 elections draw closer.
