The Nigeria Police Force has strengthened its operational presence in Imo State with the commissioning of a modern police post in Assa community, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area.
The facility was inaugurated on Tuesday by the Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, as part of efforts to enhance security in the oil-producing area.
Constructed by Anoh Gas Processing Companies Limited under its corporate social responsibility initiative, the police post is equipped with a modern administrative block, detention and interrogation facilities, police quarters, and advanced electronic systems designed to improve operational efficiency.
Bosso commended the company for its intervention and assured residents of adequate deployment of personnel to the new base.
“I deeply commend AGPC for building this state-of-the-art facility for the Nigerian Police Force. I assure you that we will deploy adequate personnel to this operational base,” he said.
He also urged members of the community to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities.
“Please give us credible information about suspicious activities, and we assure you that we will work with it to keep you and others safe,” the police chief added.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by community stakeholders, including the Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Marcel Amadioha, who appreciated the company’s commitment to safeguarding its host community.
Similarly, the traditional ruler of Assa, Emmanuel Assor, lauded the initiative, noting that the facility would significantly improve safety and security in the area.
A representative of AGPC reaffirmed the company’s dedication to fostering peace, development, and collaboration with host communities.
The new police post is expected to enhance rapid response to security threats and strengthen law enforcement presence in the region.
