Jennifer Odonwodo, wife of late Nollywood actor JohnPaul Odonwodo, has shared an emotional tribute marking two years since his tragic death, recounting the painful moment she received the news.
In a post on her Instagram page, Jennifer described the incident as “the most devastating call” of her life.
“This day two years ago,I received the most devastating call of my life… Awele, the boat JP was on just capsized,” she wrote.
Shock and Disbelief
The mother of three said she initially struggled to accept the news, hoping it was a prank.
“My hands immediately started shaking, but a part of me held onto the fact that it was a prank,” she said.
She recounted the heartbreaking moment she arrived at the scene.
“I was driven to the scene and saw the very massive crowd… a black Hilux drove past me with my husband lying lifeless in its trunk… I screamed JESUSSSSS,” she added.
Health Crisis After Tragedy
Jennifer revealed that the shock took a severe toll on her health, leading to hospitalisation after her blood pressure rose dangerously high.
“For some reason, the doctor checked my BP, and it was over 210… I was immediately admitted,” she said.
She added that she remained in denial until the reality of his death became undeniable during his funeral.
“I still had hope… not until the morning pallbearers brought in his casket,” she noted.
Remembering a Loved One
In her tribute, which included videos of family moments, she expressed gratitude for divine strength while raising their children.
“God is taking care of your children and I… It hasn’t been easy, but God has been faithful,” she wrote.
She concluded with a heartfelt message: “Continue to rest peacefully in God’s bosom We miss you so much.”
