The Osun State chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Segun Olakolupo Akinbode has been suspended.
Akinbode was suspended by 13 members of the executives over alleged gross misconduct.
According to a communique obtained by InsightMedia which was signed by 13 executives, the decision was taken at an emergency meeting held on Wednesday at the NYCN secretariat in Osogbo.
The communique read in party, “Sequel to the Provision of the 2018 Constitution of NYCN upon which the current administration of the National Youth Council of Nigeria Osun State executives came into office and upon the provision of the state bye law of the National Youth Council of Nigeria ,Osun state Chapter.
“The State executives at her emergency meeting held at Youth House in testing ground resolved on suspension of chairman of National Youth Council Of Nigeria Osun State Comr. Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun as the Chairman of the council due to violation of the constitution provision.
“The decision of the state executive council on suspension is premised on Article 19 sub section IV and VII.
“His violation is premised on gross misconduct , involvement in impersonation, political apathy, Abuse of power, self centeredness above the common interest of youth constituencies .
“The State Executives hereby direct Comr. Akinbode Oluwasegun Olakolupo not to be addressed or present himself as the chairman of the youth council in osun state until investigation revealed otherwise.
“We hereby inform the public that he is suspended for four (4) months until further investigation is carried out by the 3-man ethics and disciplinary committee which shall comprise a member of the ministry of youth, a stakeholder and legal officer of the council .
The Executives appointed the Deputy Chairman as the acting chairman to direct the affairs of the council in the state.
When contacted, Akinbode refused to comment on the development, saying that “I remain the Chairman”.
