A delegation from English Premier League side Chelsea F.C. on Sunday visited the Elegushi Palace in Lagos, where they were received by the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi.
The delegation included former Super Eagles winger Victor Moses, who once starred for Chelsea during his time at the club.
Speaking after the visit, Oba Elegushi described the meeting as an important step toward promoting football development, cultural exchange and stronger international partnerships.
The monarch also urged Chelsea to support grassroots football in Nigeria by partnering with local clubs and football academies to help nurture young talents across the country.
According to him, such collaborations would create more opportunities for Nigerian youths aspiring to build careers in football.
Oba Elegushi thanked the Chelsea representatives and members of the Chelsea Fans Club Nigeria for the visit, while wishing them a pleasant stay in Lagos, popularly known as the Centre of Excellence.
The visit further reflects Chelsea’s long-standing connection with Nigerian football fans and personalities, as the club continues to enjoy massive support across the country.
