The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has condemned the recent wave of political violence in the state, describing the attacks as disturbing and unacceptable in a democratic society.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Oyebamiji expressed sympathy for residents who suffered injuries, losses and trauma during the incidents reported across different parts of the state.
He extended his condolences to victims and their families, praying for the speedy recovery of those injured and comfort for everyone affected by the unrest.
The APC candidate stressed that democracy should remain a contest of ideas and service rather than violence, insisting that no political ambition is worth the loss of human lives.
“There is no political office that is worth the blood of any human being,” he said, adding that electoral victories should never be pursued through intimidation or attacks on citizens.
Oyebamiji alleged that members and supporters of the APC had come under attack in several communities across the state.
According to him, APC supporters were attacked in Owode-Ede, while campaign buses belonging to the party were vandalised and damaged.
He also claimed that party members participating in a peaceful Walk-to-Live rally in Ifeland were attacked by hoodlums allegedly linked to the ruling government, leaving several participants injured.
The governorship hopeful further alleged that APC supporters in Osogbo were physically assaulted, while reports suggested that some individuals were shot during the incidents. He noted, however, that the full extent of injuries and any possible fatalities had yet to be independently verified.
Oyebamiji condemned political violence regardless of those responsible, warning that individuals who seek power through fear and intimidation have no place in a democratic system.
He expressed concern over what he described as a growing atmosphere of insecurity, political intolerance and intimidation in the state, urging stakeholders to take the development seriously.
Looking ahead to the 2026 governorship election, the APC candidate pledged to prioritise the safety and security of residents if elected governor.
He promised that his administration would ensure citizens can exercise their democratic rights freely without fear of harassment, intimidation or violence.
Oyebamiji also vowed to maintain a zero-tolerance stance against criminality, saying his government would uphold the rule of law and ensure equal treatment for all citizens.
While urging residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding, he called on supporters not to respond to provocation with violence but to continue placing their faith in the democratic process.
The APC candidate expressed optimism about the state’s future, saying Osun would witness a new phase of governance focused on security, welfare, prosperity and peace if his party wins the forthcoming election.
He concluded by calling for unity among residents and reaffirmed his commitment to restoring public confidence in government and advancing the state’s development.
