The Muslims Political Awareness Forum (MUPAF) has officially endorsed the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), while unveiling a new mobilisation initiative known as the Political Dawah Warriors ahead of the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
The endorsement was announced on Sunday during the Muslim Ummah in Politics programme held in Osogbo, where Islamic leaders, political stakeholders, and members of the Muslim community gathered to discuss political participation and civic engagement.
Speaking at the event, the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, Imam Yunus Olushina Teliat (Ayilara II), encouraged Muslims to take active roles in the democratic process and ensure their voices are reflected through participation in elections.
The cleric observed that Muslims have historically contributed significantly to political development but often do not benefit proportionately from those contributions.
According to him, supporting leaders who demonstrate integrity and godly values remains important for advancing the interests of the Muslim community.
He also urged Muslims across Osun State to remain committed to exercising their civic rights and to openly communicate their expectations to elected leaders.
Emphasising the importance of voting, Imam Teliat disclosed that he prioritises voter participation within his own family and discouraged attitudes that discourage electoral involvement.
The wife of the APC governorship candidate, Dr Mrs Sekinat Oyebamiji, also addressed participants, stating that members of the Muslim community had consistently called for a leader characterised by humility, integrity, and the fear of God.
Presenting her husband to the gathering, she expressed confidence in his leadership qualities and assured attendees that the campaign would focus on peaceful mobilisation and democratic engagement.
“Our approach is not confrontation but persuasion through the ballot,” she said.
In his remarks, APC governorship candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji appreciated the leadership and members of MUPAF for their endorsement and support.
Describing himself as part of the organisation’s broader community, Oyebamiji pledged that his administration, if elected, would promote fairness, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities for all residents of the state.
He further assured supporters that governance under his leadership would be driven by trust, balance, and service rather than division.
Referencing recent political developments in neighbouring Ekiti State, the APC candidate called on party supporters and stakeholders to remain united and committed to the campaign ahead of the election.
A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Political Dawah Warriors, a special grassroots mobilisation group established to carry out mosque-to-mosque sensitization campaigns aimed at promoting political awareness, voter participation, and civic responsibility across Muslim communities in Osun State ahead of the governorship poll.
