The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo over the legal status of reinstated local government chairmen and councillors elected in the October 15, 2022 local government election.
In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC described the ruling as a miscarriage of justice and announced plans to challenge the decision at the Court of Appeal.
The case, marked FHC/OS/CS/147/2025, was filed by the reinstated chairmen and councillors in September 2025.
According to the party, several interlocutory appeals had already arisen from proceedings in the matter, with the Court of Appeal in Abuja hearing aspects of the case on June 3, 2026 and subsequently adjourning further proceedings until September 28, 2026.
The APC argued that despite the pending appeal and an application seeking a stay of proceedings before the appellate court, the Federal High Court proceeded to deliver judgment.
The court reportedly ruled that the tenure of the reinstated local government officials ended in October 2025.
Reacting to the verdict, the APC claimed the judgment raised questions over the validity of the local government election conducted by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission on February 22, 2025, as well as the swearing-in of officials that followed.
The party urged members of the public to disregard what it described as misleading interpretations of the judgment and maintained that it would continue to pursue all legal avenues available.
According to the statement, the affected chairmen and councillors have already filed a notice of appeal alongside an application for stay of execution.
The APC also insisted that no enforcement process should commence until all appeal processes are concluded.
In addition, the party called on security agencies to remain vigilant and maintain peace across the state, while urging its supporters to remain calm and law-abiding throughout the legal process.
The APC further appealed to residents to await the final determination of the matter by the courts.
