Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has revealed why she does not consider romantic relationships with fellow Nigerian celebrities.
The award-winning artiste made the disclosure while speaking during an interview at the BET Awards ceremony over the weekend.
During the conversation, Tems was asked whether she would consider approaching Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, who has recently attracted attention online.
Responding, the singer said although she knows of the football star, they do not have a personal relationship and she does not see Nigerian celebrities in a romantic way.
According to Tems, relationships within the Nigerian entertainment space are often built more on friendship and mutual support than romantic interest.
“I know who Maduka Okoye is but I don’t know him personally. I wish I did though. But shooting shots at him, we don’t do that over here,” she said.
Tems added that she views most of her male colleagues as family rather than potential romantic partners.
“We [Nigerian celebrities] are friends and we are family. I see my male colleagues as brothers,” she stated.
Her comments have since sparked conversations among fans online, with many reacting to her perspective on relationships within the entertainment industry.
