The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible voters ahead of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Osun State office of the Commission, INEC said the exercise is meant for individuals who recently registered, applied for transfer of voter registration, requested replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the just concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to the Commission, the distribution will begin at the 332 Registration Areas across Osun State from Wednesday, July 22 to Tuesday, July 28, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, including weekends.
INEC stated that after the Registration Area phase, the exercise will continue at its Local Government Area offices across the state from Wednesday, July 29 to Friday, August 7, 2026, also between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, weekends inclusive.
The electoral body urged all eligible voters to collect their PVCs within the stipulated period, stressing that the Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid means of accreditation for participation in the governorship election.
INEC also disclosed that all uncollected PVCs from previous voter registration exercises would be available for collection during the distribution period.
The Commission, however, warned that the collection of PVCs is strictly personal, noting that collection by proxy would not be permitted under any circumstance.
It urged residents to take advantage of the exercise to ensure they are eligible to vote in the forthcoming governorship election.
Reaffirming its commitment to a credible electoral process, INEC assured the public of its resolve to conduct a free, fair, transparent and inclusive governorship election in Osun State.
The Commission advised members of the public seeking further information to visit the nearest INEC Local Government Office or contact the Osun State INEC office through its official communication channels.
