The Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council, Lere Oyewunmi, on Tuesday led members of the council on separate courtesy visits to the palaces of the Timi of Ede and the Oluwo of Iwo as part of consultations ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
At the palace of the Timi of Ede, Oyewunmi extended Governor Ademola Adeleke’s greetings to the monarch, palace chiefs, the Iyalode, queens and members of the royal household.
Addressing the monarch Oyewunmi said Governor Ademola Adeleke places great importance on prayers, noting that the purpose of the visit was to seek royal blessings for the forthcoming election.
He said, “Prayers are very important to Governor Adeleke. We are here to receive your prayers and blessings as we prepare for the August 15 governorship election.”
The DG also appreciated the people of Ede North and Ede South for their continued support for the Adeleke administration.
“We have also come to appreciate the good people of Ede North and Ede South for their unwavering support. We thank them for standing with Governor Adeleke and we ask for your continued support and prayers,” he said.
Responding, the Timi of Ede expressed confidence that Governor Adeleke would secure victory at the polls.
“By the grace of God, the Accord Party will emerge victorious in the August 15 governorship election,” the monarch said.
He urged eligible voters in Ede to come out en masse on election day to cast their votes.
“I urge all residents of Ede to come out massively on August 15 and vote. Anyone who claims to be an indigene of Ede and does not vote for Adeleke is not a true indigene of this town,” the royal father stated.
The campaign council also visited the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo, where the monarch welcomed the delegation and received them warmly.
