The Olojudo Alayemore of Ido-Osun Kingdom, Oba Olayinka Oyetunde Ishola Jokotola, has inspected the ongoing 82.7-kilometre Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road Project, describing the federal government’s intervention as a major boost to connectivity and economic development in the region.
The traditional ruler conducted the inspection on Wednesday by visiting the project yard and commencement point at Ido-Osun to assess the progress and activities on the site.
The road project, awarded to M/S Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Ltd., has an expected completion period of 36 months.
The refered monarch said the project represented an important infrastructure investment capable of transforming transportation, connectivity and economic activities along the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan corridor.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for initiating the project, describing the development as significant for Osun State and its people.
Oba Jokotola also acknowledged the contribution of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, as residents of the state welcomed the commencement of the long-awaited road project.
According to him, the commencement point at Ido-Osun marked an important milestone for the community, while expressing optimism that the project would be executed with quality, professionalism and accountability.
He said the completed road would create opportunities for residents and businesses while improving movement between communities along the corridor.
“For Ido-Osun, the commencement point marks an important milestone. We look forward to a project delivered with quality, professionalism and accountability, and to the opportunities it will create for generations to come,” the monarch said.
He added that the importance of the project went beyond the construction of a road, noting that improved infrastructure would strengthen connections between communities and open up new economic opportunities.
“Infrastructure connects more than roads; it connects people, communities and possibilities,” he said.
