The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s recent comments reflect what he described as growing anxiety ahead of the poll.
Oyebamiji also urged the governor to refrain from making what he called inflammatory statements capable of undermining constituted authorities, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The APC candidate made the remarks while speaking with journalists during his campaign tour, where he also condemned what he described as unguarded comments allegedly directed at leaders and members of the APC.
According to him, the governor’s recent outbursts were a reflection of his alleged fear of defeat in the forthcoming election.
“Well, I feel sorry for the governor because he knows that he is losing already. I want to advise him to start packing his luggage because it is obvious that he is jittery,” Oyebamiji said.
He maintained that the APC had continued to enjoy widespread support across the state, claiming that residents had expressed their desire for a change in government.
“We have visited 27 local government areas and people came out en masse to support us. They told us they are yearning for a new governor and for the APC to take over the affairs of the state,” he said.
Oyebamiji added that he was not surprised by the governor’s comments, insisting that they stemmed from the realization that the APC was gaining momentum ahead of the election.
“I am not surprised by the outburst because he knows he is losing already. You can see the way he was talking,” he said.
Expressing confidence in his chances, the APC standard-bearer predicted victory for his party at the polls.
“Come August 15, 2026, the APC will win the election and I, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, will emerge as the governor-elect,” he stated.
He, however, appealed to voters to conduct themselves peacefully on election day, stressing the need for a free, fair and credible electoral process.
“I appreciate our people for the warm reception they have given us during our campaign. I want to advise them to go to their polling units peacefully because we want this election to be free, fair and credible. We have the people and we are confident of victory,” Oyebamiji added.
