A group of supporters under the AMBO/Adereti 2026 City Praise Prayer Movement has staged a roadshow across Osogbo, Osun State, calling for peaceful conduct of the August 15 governorship election and expressing support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
The movement, which featured a procession through major parts of the state capital, was organised as a combination of prayers, praise and political mobilisation ahead of the governorship election.
Speaking during the roadshow, one of the organisers, Kehinde Adeboyega, said the initiative was driven by people who shared a common interest in seeing Osun experience peace, good governance and development.
Adeboyega said the group was using the programme to seek divine intervention for the state and a peaceful electoral process.
“It’s all about achieving what God wanted for Osun State. We want God to deliver us from unserious governance and bring His hand down so that we can have peace during the election without any hanky-panky,” he said.
Asked whether the movement was backing any candidate, Adeboyega said the group supported Oyebamiji and his running mate, Benjamin Adereti.
He described Oyebamiji as the candidate capable of providing effective leadership for the state, saying his emergence had attracted support from different political stakeholders.
According to him, the group believes that supporting Oyebamiji is in the interest of the state and its people, rather than for personal or sectional interests.
“We are not doing it for our own parochial interest. We are doing it in the interest of the state and the masses. The interest of the state is at our heart,” he said.
Also speaking, the convener of the programme, Taiwo Adeboyega, said the primary purpose of t myhe roadshow was to praise God and pray for a peaceful election.
He explained that the organisers believed that prayers and praise could help create an atmosphere of peace ahead of the poll.
“What we intend to do, number one, is to give praise to God. We are praising God to make sure the election that we are about to have on August 15 is peaceful,” he said.
Taiwo stressed that the movement was not exclusively Christian, noting that Muslims were also part of the procession.
He said the participation of people from both faiths was intended to demonstrate unity and support for peaceful coexistence in Osun State.
“It is not only Christians that are coming. We have both Muslims and Christians on this motorcade to show that we are together,” he said.
On what he believed Oyebamiji would bring to governance if elected, the convener described the APC candidate as an intelligent and calm individual who, according to him, would approach governance with a focus on achieving positive results.
“He is an intelligent man. He is a calm person. He doesn’t do things because people say he should; he does things because he wants them to be done well,” Taiwo said.
The roadshow featured participants in AMBO/Adereti-branded attire and materials as they moved through parts of Osogbo, with prayers for peace, progress and prosperity in Osun State.
The organisers said the initiative was aimed at combining civic and political engagement with prayers for a peaceful election, while urging residents to participate responsibly in the August 15 governorship poll.
