The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Thursday took a swipe at Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, over his well-known dancing style as he campaigned for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Okpebholo spoke at the APC campaign rally held in Osun, where he urged voters to back the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as “AMBO,” describing him as the leader capable of delivering greater development to the state.
The rally was also attended by the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, alongside other APC leaders.
Addressing party supporters, the Edo governor criticised Adeleke’s leadership style, repeatedly mocking the governor’s love for dancing and suggesting it had overshadowed governance.
“Before somebody signs paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance,” Okpebholo said.
He also linked Adeleke politically to former Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, urging Osun voters to reject the incumbent administration at the polls.
“That man is Obaseki’s friend. You know we kicked Obaseki out of Edo. So, we have to kick his friend out of this place too,” he told the crowd.
The governor further alleged that the ruling Accord Party was distributing money to influence voters and advised residents to collect the money but cast their ballots for the APC candidate.
“If they bring money, collect it, but don’t vote for them. They said they have money to spend. Just collect the money and keep it in your pocket,” he said.
Campaigning for Oyebamiji, Okpebholo said the APC candidate would provide purposeful leadership and improve infrastructure across Osun if elected.
He also criticised the condition of some roads in the state, saying his experience while travelling reflected the need for a change in government.
“The road I passed through made my tyre shake. I asked whether it was the dancing road or the dancing governor’s road,” he remarked.
He concluded by urging supporters to vote massively for the APC on August 15.
“Osun, are we ready to make a change? Are we ready to say goodbye to dancing?” he asked, drawing loud cheers from party supporters.
The comments come as political campaigns intensify across Osun State, with parties stepping up efforts to woo voters ahead of the governorship election scheduled for August 15.
