The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled the full lineup of its Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, bringing together some of the state’s most prominent political figures, including former governors, under the same political structure.
The list was made public through the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre, which handles media and information matters for Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the APC’s governorship candidate for Lagos State in 2027.
At the top of the structure sits Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, who has been named Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), a body typically tasked with providing strategic direction and political oversight for the party’s campaign machinery in the state.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu takes on the role of Chairman of the Advisory Council, flanked by two former governors, Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, who will serve as Co-Chairmen.
Their inclusion effectively brings three generations of Lagos APC leadership into a single advisory structure, a move likely aimed at projecting continuity and unity within the party ahead of what’s expected to be a keenly contested election.
Beyond the advisory arm, the Campaign Council itself will also be chaired by the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with Obafemi Hamzat stepping in as Deputy Chairman, placing the sitting governor and his preferred successor at the helm of the campaign’s operational leadership.
Insightlinks recalls that Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has been appointed Director-General of the Campaign Council, a role that typically involves coordinating the day-to-day running of the campaign across the state, while Dr Adekunle Olayinka will serve alongside him as Campaign Secretary.
According to the statement, the Lagos State Campaign Council will be formally inaugurated on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10:00am. The ceremony is scheduled to hold at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja, and all appointed members are expected to be in attendance.
The unveiling comes as political parties across the country begin firming up their structures ahead of the 2027 polls, with Lagos, regarded as Nigeria’s commercial capital and a state the APC has held since 1999, expected to remain one of the most closely watched battlegrounds in the country’s political landscape.
