Foremost Osun photographer and Chief Executive Officer of Bright Imagery Photography, Ebenezer Oyelade, over the weekend marked his birthday with free medical test for residents of Osogbo and its environs.
The initiative was held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, featured free checks including blood pressure, weight and height for Body Mass Index calculation, fasting blood sugar, as well as Hepatitis B and C tests.
Speaking during the programme, Oyelade said the initiative was his way of appreciating his family, friends, clients and members of the community for their support and to also give back to the society.
He said outreach also created an opportunity for members of the society to know their health status.
The birthday celebrant added that although he might not have money or material gifts to give people, he believed the free medical tests could make a meaningful difference in their lives.
Oyelade said his decision was also driven by his belief that good health was more valuable than wealth, noting that having money becomes meaningless when an individual is unable to enjoy good health or work because of illness.
According to him, “The reason I chose this programme is that I know health is wealth. Even if you have all the money in the world, including billions, if your health is not good, you have nothing. If you have money but lack good health, you cannot work. Over 100 people benefited from the programme”
He expressed appreciation to Pastor (Dr) Olagunju Abiodun Abioye, Pastor Okedare, Dr Seriki, Dr Adewale, Mr Bamidele, Dr Oyegbade, Daddy Ayinde, Mr Olajuwon and his boss, Mr Muyiwa Olojede, among others, for supporting the initiative.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Brother Sunkanmi, Mr Seye, Oyinmomo, Mr Tadese, Mrs Aminat Ajibola(Amiloaded), as well as his friends, colleagues and co-workers who supported the programme.
In his remarks, The lead doctor at the outreach and Consultant Family Physician, Dr Abiodun Abioye Olagunju, described the initiative as a commendable effort to give back to the community.
Olagunju said the programme provided an opportunity for beneficiaries to check their health status, receive medical counselling and undergo basic health tests, adding that some participants were advised to visit hospitals for further medical attention based on the outcomes of their assessments.
He also offered lifestyle advice to the beneficiaries, including eating properly, drinking adequate water and exercising regularly.
The physician urged members of the public to make regular health checks a priority, stressing that people should know their blood pressure, blood sugar and other relevant health indicators.
He encouraged people to use opportunities such as the free medical outreach to check their health status and seek professional medical attention when necessary.
Also speaking, Dr. Omokoye Japhet said the free medical outreach was aimed at providing the people with basic health checks, including blood pressure, blood sugar and hepatitis tests. He said while the government is making efforts in the health sector, more needs to be done to improve access to healthcare, including expanding hospitals and primary healthcare centres.
He also called on NGOs to support more free medical outreaches and urged the government to organise regular health screenings at affordable rates. Dr. Omokoye advised residents to take their health seriously by undergoing regular medical check-ups and monitoring their blood pressure, blood sugar and other basic health indicators.
One of the pastors of the celebrant, Pastor Ayinde Stephen Adepoju, said he was impressed by the turnout and the decision by Oyelade to use his birthday to impact lives.
Adepoju said the programme was particularly important because some people could be living with health conditions without knowing it, adding that the initiative provided an opportunity for participants to know their health status and take necessary precautions.
He commended Oyelade for investing resources and human effort into the programme, praying for continued blessings and success for the celebrant.
A beneficiary, Babajide Funmilola, appreciated Oyelade for providing the opportunity for members of the community to access the free medical test.
Another beneficiary, Taiwo Adepeju Oladipupo, described the initiative as a special programme, saying she was impressed that Oyelade chose to create an avenue for people to check their health while celebrating his birthday.
Mrs Olagunju Adefunke who is also a beneficiary described the free medical outreach as a life-impacting programme that gave people the opportunity to check their health status and receive medical advice without the financial burden associated with hospital visits. She praised the organisers, particularly the CEO of Bright Imagery, for using his birthday celebration to impact lives and encouraged him to continue the initiative.
She also commended the friendly treatment received by participants and urged Nigerians to prioritise regular medical check-ups for early detection of health problems. Mrs Adefunke called on the government to do more in providing accessible healthcare and urged individuals who have the means to support others and contribute to the wellbeing of society.
Also speaking, Olojede Muyiwa described the outreach as a service to humanity and urged people to pay greater attention to their health by going for regular medical checks.
