Edo State lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru, has declared her ambition to become president of Nigeria in the future, saying she hopes to attain the highest political office in the country during the lifetime of her grandfather, Gabriel Igbinedion.
Osawaru, who represents the Egor constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, made the declaration during the 92nd birthday celebration of Gabriel Igbinedion, her grandfather, in Benin City.
In a video from the ceremony that has gone viral, the lawmaker praised her grandfather and expressed her admiration for his life and achievements.
“You are amazing, you are like my baby right now, I love you so much. As you age, you become sweeter and better, it is so amazing to be around you grandpa. I promise you that I will be the president of this country before you go,” she said.
Osawaru recently emerged as the Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, taking on a more prominent role in the state’s legislative affairs.
Her latest declaration adds a national dimension to her political ambitions as she continues her career in the Edo legislature.
Osawaru’s political activities have increasingly placed her in the public spotlight, particularly as she takes on greater responsibilities within the state assembly.
The lawmaker is also known publicly for her marriage to Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, but her latest comments were made in the context of her own political aspirations and future plans.
