The family of late veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced a 40th-day prayer in his honour.
The actor’s daughter, Kira Taiwo, made the announcement on Wednesday through her Instagram page, inviting family members, friends, colleagues and well-wishers to the prayer gathering scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026.
The prayer will begin at 12 noon at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.
Ogogo, who died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, was buried on August 24 in Ilaro, following Islamic rites.
The invitation poster shared by Kira featured a portrait of the late actor with the inscription: “You are invited to the 40 days prayer for Alh. Al-Hassan Babatunde Taiwo ‘Ogogo.’”
The gathering is expected to bring together members of the actor’s family, friends, colleagues and associates to honour his memory and celebrate his contributions to the Yoruba film industry.
Ogogo spent more than four decades in the Nigerian film industry and was widely recognised for his contributions to Yoruba-language theatre and cinema.
The 40th-day prayer is being held in accordance with Islamic tradition as the family continues to mourn and remember the late actor.
