The Lagos State Police Command has sealed a suspected factory used for producing adulterated alcoholic drinks in Badagry and arrested a 48-year-old man.
The suspect, Anaebo Hilary, was arrested at Yafin, Badagry, where the illegal factory was located, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebesi, said in a statement on Thursday.
According to Adebesi, operatives acted on information provided by members of the public before discovering the factory.
“The operation led to the arrest of Anaebo Emeka Hilary, ‘m’, 48 years, at Yafin, Badagry, Lagos State, where the suspected illegal factory was located,” the statement said.
She said the operatives recovered adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, wine labels and production utensils allegedly used to produce and package the drinks.
Adebesi added that the factory has been sealed while the suspect is in custody and the recovered items have been taken to the station for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for acting on the information.
He urged residents to continue providing credible information on suspected criminal activities through the Command’s emergency lines.
