Days after InsightLinks report on the inability of the students of nine of ten Schools for Special Needs in Osun State, the government has not acted and the students have resumed.
InsightLinks had reported that the schools have remained shut following the inability of the government to provide feeding allowance for the students.
The students have lost five weeks before this medium got the wind and reported their plight.
Speaking with our Correspondent, Dipo Eluwole, the Commissioner for Education attributed the problem to inability of Osun State Government to access local government funds and the freezing of the state accounts by a federal high court sitting in Lagos.
Eluwole also confirmed that the government got food items for the students on credit last term and has not cleared the debt.
But following the report, InsightLinks gathered Governor Ademola Adeleke requested urgent actions and immediate solutions to the issues.
It was also gathered that the Governor ordered release of funds and procurement of foodstuffs which reportedly happened last.
Sources within the Schools informed this medium that the schools have resumed today, Monday October 26, 2025.
Speaking with InsightLinks, the Chairman of the Joint National Association for Persons with Disabilities, Osun State chapter, Mr Stephen Oluwafemi confirmed the development.
Oluwafemi thanked the media houses for coming to the rescue of the students with disabilities.
“Students resumed today. We are in school now. We thank you for your efforts. Two days after your report, the Commissioner came and acted accordingly. Procurement done and students have resumed,” an elated Oluwafemi said.
