
The Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, Oba Hammed Adekunle Oyelude Makama has drawn attention to the importance of grassroots development and traditional institutions in shaping the nation’s future while commemorating Nigeria 66th Independence Anniversary.
Oba Makama underlined that the quality of people nurtured in individual communities contributes significantly to the destiny of the country, stressing that building a prosperous Nigeria requires full concentration on the values, character and responsibilities cultivated at the grassroots.
According to the monarch, raising responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to national development is a crucial role every traditional ruler, as custodians of cultural heritage and community values have to play.
Moreover, while he spotlighted the connection between community leadership and the broader aspirations, the monarch’s message emphasized, “Nigeria’s prosperity begins from each palace.”
