Spokesperson to the Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organization, Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo has revealed that the opportunity to do better than those he has criticised over the years is the main reason he accepted the role.

Chocomilo said this on Wednesday in his acceptance statement obtained by InsightMedia in Osogbo.

Chocomilo was named the Spokesperson for the House of Representatives candidate of Accord Party for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi.

The renowned journalist also described the appointment as a call to duty and avenue to contribute to political revival and restoration of Ijesa North.

Read his full statement below;

I accept with gratitude and a sense of responsibility, my appointment as the Official Spokesperson of the Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organization (POCO) ahead of the 2027 Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency election. It is indeed a date with history and posterity.

I receive with humility this call to duty. It is a task of revival, restoration, and a direct response to the yearning of the good people of Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency for credible leadership, truth, and purposeful representation.

This is not just an appointment. It is a passport to contribute and an access card to what will be recorded as the most profound and unprecedented political revolution in the history of Ijesa North politics.

I understand the weight of this role. It is a new challenge; an opportunity to do better than those we have criticized on radio, in newspapers and social media. It is a political advocacy for the freedom and restoration of the Ijesa North people.

We must rescue our constituency from those who play the politics of many people but share the benefits among a small cabal, diverting money meant for our schools, roads, and hospitals into their private pockets.

As the voice of this campaign, I will speak with facts, with courage, and with unwavering loyalty to the ideals of our principal, Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi, and what he represents.

My story has not changed. The tale is not different. The players and strategy are different. We will run a campaign based on issues, not insults. On records, not rumours. On solutions, not sentiments. Yet, we will not allow our rivals to mistake our political maturity for weakness.

To our supporters across Oriade and Obokun, the time is now. We must be ready to answer questions, to identify problems and to proffer solutions. This campaign will go to every ward, every street, and every household with a message of hope and competence.

From Ijebu-Jesa to Ibokun, to Ipetu-Ijesa, to Esa-Oke, to Ipetu-Ile, to Ikeji, to Erinmo, to Ikinyinwa and all our towns and villages, we will enter the homes of those who have lost hope in democracy, quality representation and effective legislation, and we will provide succour.

We welcome robust debate from our opponents, but we will not condone lies, propaganda, and character assassination. We will respond to every falsehood firmly, with superior facts.

My principal, Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq., is a man of grace. From a poor background to building one of Nigeria’s largest law firms, with no blemish or criminal record, his story is proof that a young person, with God’s grace and gift of quality people can still become relevant in Nigeria. His courage and attention to detail are commendable, and I have absolute faith that God will use him to rescue, restore, and reset Ijesa North.

I sincerely thank my Principal, Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq, and the leadership of the Campaign Organization ably led by Prince Adesoji Baderin and Hon. Mayowa Adejorin for reposing their trust and confidence in me. I promise to discharge this duty to the best of my ability, with professionalism and integrity.

The mission is simple: Rescue, Restore, and Reset Ijesa North.
