Human rights lawyer and political figure, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has called on the lawmaker representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Oluwole Oke, to release all Federal Government intervention transformers and tractors allegedly in his possession to ease the hardship facing residents.

Olajengbesi made the appeal on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in a post on his personal Facebook page, where he accused some politicians of diverting government interventions meant to improve the living conditions of rural communities.

The lawyer, who recently donated a 300kVA transformer to Ilo-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area, said the gesture was prompted by years of unstable electricity supply and repeated complaints from residents.

According to him, the electricity intervention was among the promises made during the governorship campaign of Governor Ademola Adeleke, but residents had continued to experience prolonged power outages due to the absence of functional transformers.

Olajengbesi said he was moved by the plight of the community and decided to intervene with support from friends.

“I was moved by the genuine concern and need of our people. They lamented years of electricity blackout due to lack of transformers, with promises made to them remaining unfulfilled. The Federal Government made provisions for these projects,” he said.

He explained that the donation was made possible through personal efforts and contributions from friends, adding that he hoped to ensure that communities in the constituency would no longer have to endure similar challenges.

“Thank God, with the support of friends, I was able to get a 300kVA transformer and donate it to our people in Ilo-Ijesa. I promised that when I have the necessary capacity as their representative, I will ensure that such problems will no longer be a challenge,” he stated.

Beyond the electricity challenge, Olajengbesi raised concerns over the alleged diversion of public intervention items, arguing that equipment provided by the Federal Government to support rural development should reach the communities for which it was intended.

He alleged that some politicians collect such items but fail to deliver them to beneficiaries, thereby depriving residents of essential infrastructure and agricultural support.

Against this backdrop, the lawyer challenged Oke to make available all government-provided transformers and tractors reportedly in his custody for distribution to communities across Oriade and Obokun.

“I also challenge our current representative to immediately release all Government support transformers and tractors in his possession to the people of Oriade/Obokun to make life easier for our people,” he declared.

The appeal has brought renewed attention to the distribution and accountability of constituency interventions, particularly the responsibility of elected representatives to ensure that public resources reach intended beneficiaries.

However, the allegation that government intervention items are being withheld or diverted remains Olajengbesi’s claim and has not been independently established. Oke’s response to the appeal was not included in the statement.
