Former governor of Gombe State and serving senator, Muhammadu Danjuma Goje, has announced that he will not contest for any elective office in the future after his current tenure in the Senate expires.

Goje made the disclosure on Sunday, December 8, at the venue of his empowerment programme in the Pantami Stadium, Gombe state, Daily Trust reports.

He said he will be stepping aside in 2023 for younger politicians in the state to also have a taste of elective office.
He, however, stated that he would remain in politics.

The lawmaker said he had contested and won seven elections and was never defeated at the polls.

He noted that during the cause of his political career he served as a secretary of local government, member Bauchi state House of Assembly, a onetime minister, a two-term governor of Gombe state and was elected three times as a senator.

According to Premium Times, Senator Goje said he will continue to be an active card-carrying member of the APC and participate in all political activities at all levels.
