The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned Subomi and Wahab, sons of billionaire businessman Razaq Okoya, for questioning following the circulation of a controversial video showing the brothers allegedly disrespecting the naira.

The video sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many criticizing the slow response from authorities.

The police officer seen with the Okoya brothers in the video has been identified and detained by the Nigeria Police Force.

Prominent activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju voiced his concerns, calling out the perceived double standard in the country’s legal system, stating, “The Okoya sons are above the law. A country of two laws  one for the poor and another for the rich.”

Amid growing public pressure, the EFCC has scheduled an interrogation for the brothers at its Lagos office on Monday, January 13, 2025.

The summons was issued by Michael Wetkas, the acting director of the Lagos Directorate of the EFCC.
