President Bola Tinubu is currently presiding over another Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, less than 24 hours after the previous session held on Monday. Tuesday’s meeting, the second of a two-day series, began at 1:26 p.m. when the president arrived at the Council Chamber.

At the conclusion of Monday’s FEC meeting, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris had mentioned that the meeting would extend into the following day due to a backlog of memos awaiting review.

“Let me also say that another Federal Executive Council meeting is scheduled for tomorrow. Since December, there have been no meetings, so many memos have piled up. The President is determined to address them all,” Idris had stated. “Therefore, there will be another press briefing following tomorrow’s FEC session.”

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, the President’s Chief of Staff Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Head of the Civil Service Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, and several ministers were present at the second-day meeting in the Council Chamber.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was among the agencies presenting memos at the meeting.

On Monday, the council approved N4.8bn for the Presidential Treatment Programme, which will provide 150,000 HIV treatment packs from February to May 2025. Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, explained that the approval followed discussions on the impact of recent U.S. policy changes on Nigeria’s health programs, particularly concerning HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria funding.
