The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the immediate deployment of the Intelligence Response Team to ensure the safe rescue of Afenifere Youth Leader, Prince Eniola Ojajuni, who was abducted on February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja. The IGP has prioritized Ojajuni’s safe return.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reassured the public of the police’s commitment to securing Ojajuni’s release by mobilizing all necessary resources and expertise.
“The IGP commends the bravery and swift actions of the officers who have demonstrated their dedication to ensuring the safety of citizens. Accordingly, the IGP has ordered the urgent deployment of the FID Intelligence Response Team to prioritize the safe rescue of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was abducted on February 17, 2025, while en route to Abuja,” Adejobi stated.
“The Nigeria Police Force is fully committed to securing Prince Ojajuni’s safe return and will deploy all the necessary resources and expertise to accomplish this objective,” he added.
Adejobi also cautioned Nigerians against spreading unverified information on social media, urging the public to refrain from speculation that could undermine the operation.
“The police urge the public to exercise caution and avoid sharing unverified information regarding the ongoing rescue efforts. Such actions can inadvertently jeopardize the operation and compromise the safety of the victim,” Adejobi emphasized.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its mission to neutralize criminal elements operating within our communities and restore peace and security,” he concluded.
On the police’s recent successes, Adejobi highlighted an operation in Taraba State on February 26, 2025, where officers raided a suspected criminal hideout at Wamunchi dry-season rice farms. The raid led to the arrest of 20 suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, a motorcycle, three Dane guns, and a bow and arrow.
In Oyo State, Adejobi reported that a quick response from tactical teams and local security outfits resulted in the rescue of three kidnap victims who were abducted from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji on February 24, 2025. The operation also led to the arrest of one of the kidnappers.
