Afrobeats star Oluwakayode Junior Balogun, popularly known as Barry Jhay, has addressed rumors suggesting he stepped away from music.

Speaking with Saturday Beat, the soulful singer clarified, “I never took a break from music. I just took time to find my peace, focus on myself, and heal because mental health is crucial. I’ve been dedicating myself to creating timeless records and working on my upcoming album, Barrystar: The Album Vol. 1.”

The singer explained that he has been busy planning his next big move. “Great things require careful planning, so I’ve been recording, handling my other businesses, and focusing on my family,” he added.

Despite being one of Nigeria’s top vocalists, Barry Jhay is known for his reserved nature. “I’ve always been a quiet, introverted person who values my peace and stays away from social media drama,” he shared.

With his album set to release in April, one of the highlights is a collaboration with Grammy-nominated Jamaican artist Blackhero. Barry Jhay revealed, “To be invited to the Grammy Academy, you need to collaborate with a Grammy-nominated or winning artist, which I did in 2024.”

Reflecting on his journey in the music industry, the Aiye Ole crooner remarked, “God has been kind to me. Everyone faces challenges in life, but it’s all part of the journey. As long as it doesn’t take your life, take it as a lesson, learn from it, and keep going. Always remember, God is love.”
