The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has finalized arrangements for the airlift of intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj. The first batch of pilgrims is scheduled to depart from the Ilorin International Airport tomorrow Monday, May 12.
This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, during an enlightenment program held for the pilgrims at the Board’s headquarters in Ilorin.
Alhaji Abdulkadir confirmed that all necessary preparations, including vaccination, as well as the distribution of uniforms and travel bags, have been completed. He further revealed that the state has been allocated four flights, each carrying 550 pilgrims, totaling 2,174 intending pilgrims from Kwara.
According to the flight schedule, the first batch will depart on May 12, followed by the second batch on May 14, the third on May 16, and the final batch on May 17.
In his address, the Chairman of the Board, Professor Mashood Mahmud-Jimba, urged pilgrims to refrain from the use of foul language during the Hajj, especially while at Arafat, to ensure the spiritual sanctity of their pilgrimage.
Also speaking at the event, the Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen, advised pilgrims to perform the Hajj with sincerity and the fear of Allah. He emphasized the importance of patience while in the Holy Land to ensure a spiritually rewarding experience.
Representatives from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), NAFDAC, NDLEA, Nigerian Customs Service, and FOMWAN also addressed the pilgrims, urging them to abide by all rules and regulations during the pilgrimage and to represent both Kwara State and Nigeria positively.
A key highlight of the event was a practical demonstration of the Hajj rites, outlining the essential steps and procedures the pilgrims are expected to follow while in Saudi Arabia.
