Nigerian football icon Jay-Jay Okocha has shared his thoughts on Victor Osimhen’s future amid growing speculation about the striker’s next move following a stellar loan spell at Galatasaray.

In an interview with Turkish broadcaster TRT Spor, cited by Haberler, the former Fenerbahçe star advised Osimhen to weigh both emotional and professional satisfaction when making his decision. He encouraged the Napoli striker to consider staying at Galatasaray, even if it means making certain sacrifices.

“Turkey is a great place to play and live football,” Okocha said. “Sometimes, you have to make sacrifices in football. Osimhen had a fantastic season at Galatasaray and seems genuinely happy there. Why shouldn’t he stay? I love Turkey and he does too.”

Osimhen wrapped up his loan with a remarkable 37-goal campaign, helping Galatasaray secure a league and cup double after scoring in their 2–0 win over İstanbul Başakşehir.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, head coach Okan Buruk lauded Osimhen’s impact and expressed hope that he would remain with the club. Meanwhile, fans have launched a global #staywithus campaign, including a billboard message in New York’s Times Square.

Reports indicate Galatasaray has offered Osimhen a new deal worth €15 million annually, €3 million more than his current salary, which would make him the club’s highest-paid player ever. However, the player has yet to comment on his plans.

When asked if he had any inside information, Okocha remained neutral: “I don’t know. Wherever he chooses to go, I wish him the best.”

Reflecting on his own career in Turkey, Okocha called his time at Fenerbahçe (1996–1998) “a wonderful two years,” fondly recalling the fans and local cuisine. He ended with a shout-out to his former club, saying, “The greatest is Fener.”
