A heavy downpour in Ogun State on Tuesday led to the collapse of a telecommunications mast onto a residential building at Unity Estate, Alagbole-Akute, leaving the landlord with minor injuries.
The victim, who was inside the house at the time of the incident, narrowly escaped serious harm. He received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Wednesday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, said the command received a distress call at about 2:39 p.m. from a resident, Mr. Moses Olalere, reporting the collapse.
“On June 3, 2025, around 14:39 hours, the Ogun State Police Command was alerted to a natural disaster involving a telecom mast collapse during heavy rainfall. The mast, owned by IHS Company and located in Ajuwon, Akute, crashed onto a residential building in Unity Estate,” Odutola stated.
