Kevin De Bruyne is set to officially complete his move to Napoli following the conclusion of his international duties with the Belgian national team, according to multiple reports from Italy.
The 34-year-old midfielder, whose contract with Manchester City expires this summer, is joining Napoli on a free transfer, which brings an end to a decade-long spell at the Etihad Stadium.
Although the deal was initially expected to be finalized earlier in June, De Bruyne delayed the final steps of the transfer to focus on Belgium’s recent World Cup qualifiers. He featured prominently in both fixtures, starting in the 1–1 draw against North Macedonia and scoring an 88th-minute winner in the dramatic 4–3 victory over Wales on Monday night.
Italian football insiders, including Gianluca Di Marzio and Matteo Moretto, now report that De Bruyne is prepared to conclude the remaining formalities of his move to Napoli. The necessary paperwork has already been completed, and a two-year contract is in place. A medical examination is expected to take place before the end of the week.
The signing marks a significant reinforcement for Antonio Conte’s Napoli squad, who recently clinched the Serie A title. In addition to De Bruyne, the club is also nearing the completion of a deal for 20-year-old Empoli defender Luca Marianucci.
