A former two-term chairman of Kagarko Local Government Area in Kaduna State, Hon. Nasara Rabo, has stepped down from the All Progressives Congress (APC), attributing his decision to personal reasons.
Rabo, who began his political journey as a councillor representing Iddah Ward under the now-defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, made the announcement through a letter seen by PUNCH Online on Saturday.
His resignation is seen as a notable political development in the region, given his longstanding influence in grassroots politics in Southern Kaduna.
While confirming his decision, Rabo explained that it was driven by his personal beliefs. He did not, however, mention whether he intends to align with another political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I have taken this decision after wide consultations and based on personal reasons,” he said.
Individuals familiar with Rabo’s political activities suggest that his departure may be linked to recent political shifts and internal tensions within the party, both at the local and state levels.
Rabo previously served two consecutive terms as chairman of Kagarko Local Government Council and was recognized as a key figure in building the APC’s support base during its early years in Kaduna State.
His resignation adds to a growing wave of exits from the APC in Kaduna, amid increasing internal conflicts and political repositioning ahead of the next elections.
Attempts to get a comment from APC leaders in the local government were unsuccessful as of the time this report was filed.
