The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), His Excellency Umar Ganduje has officially resigned, this is a move that has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s political landscape. His resignation takes immediate effect.
Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State who assumed the APC chairmanship in August 2023, cited health reasons for stepping down. He stated that his decision was driven by the need to focus on his personal well-being.
Ganduje’s leadership of the ruling party was marked by persistent controversy and internal party friction. His time at the helm coincided with growing unrest within APC ranks, with various stakeholders accusing his leadership of creating divisions and financial burdens.
Though his resignation letter references health issues, sources within the party suggest internal pressure and rising tensions also played a part.
