Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of highly-rated Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
According to reports from FootballTransfers and Sports Mole on Monday, United are “close to signing” the 22-year-old Spanish talent, whose current contract includes a €100 million release clause. However, financial pressures at Valencia are expected to lower the asking price significantly, with a deal likely to be agreed in the €24–30 million range.
“Manchester United are pushing hard to sign the 22-year-old, and a deal is close,” FootballTransfers reported, citing Italian outlet Calciomercato.
Guerra, who has made over 80 La Liga appearances, has emerged as a standout player in a struggling Valencia side. His reputation as a dynamic box-to-box midfielder, with strong defensive attributes and the ability to control the game from deep, has attracted interest from several top European clubs.
United view Guerra as a key part of their midfield revamp under new manager Rúben Amorim. With the futures of experienced players like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen uncertain, the Red Devils are shifting focus toward younger, more energetic midfield options.
Although Valencia initially declared Guerra untouchable, financial constraints appear to have softened their stance. In May, The Peoples Person reported that the Spanish club was open to negotiations, with both Manchester United and Arsenal monitoring the player closely.
AC Milan and Atlético Madrid have also shown interest in the Spain U21 international, but United are currently leading the race for his signature.
As of press time, neither club has officially confirmed ongoing negotiations. However, if finalized, Guerra would become one of Manchester United’s first major signings of the summer. Further updates, including personal terms and a possible medical, are expected in the coming days.
