Chief Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation magazine and a prominent figure within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has reiterated his support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as his preferred presidential candidate.

During an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television, Momodu made it clear that while he supports Atiku, he fully respects the right of Obidients supporters of Peter Obi to campaign for their own candidate.

“Atiku is my top choice, and I expect Obidients to express the same loyalty to Obi. Just as Amaechi’s followers support him. That’s what democracy is about,” he said.

Momodu went on to accuse the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of interfering in the ADC’s internal politics, suggesting the APC is promoting a southern candidate in a bid to weaken Atiku’s chances.

“They’ve been crafting narratives to undermine Atiku because they see him as a threat,” he claimed. “Wike was the only southern contender who had a real chance, but now he’s backing Asiwaju.”

Calling for transparency and fairness within the opposition, Momodu urged that all aspirants be allowed to prove their strength in open primaries.

“Let Obidients campaign for Obi, Atikulates for Atiku, and Amaechi’s supporters for him. Let’s all test our strength on the field,” he added.

Despite his personal endorsement of Atiku, Momodu emphasized his continued friendship with Peter Obi and respect for his political aspirations.

“Obi is a friend. If I were to recommend a coalition leader, he’d be among my top picks,” he noted, adding that his support for Atiku stems from personal belief and democratic values.

Momodu concluded by describing Atiku as the kind of leader Nigeria needs, highlighting his experience and leadership qualities.
