Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and his wife have been conferred with prestigious chieftaincy titles by the Deji of Akure Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, CFR.
Governor Makinde was bestowed with the title of Aare Omoluabi of Akure Kingdom, while his wife received the title of Yeye Aare Omoluabi. The conferment was part of activities commemorating the monarch’s 10th coronation anniversary.
Sharing the development on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Governor Makinde expressed heartfelt gratitude to the traditional ruler for the honour. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the development and progress of Akure Kingdom.
“My wife and I were honoured with the chieftaincy titles of Aare Omoluabi and Yeye Aare Omoluabi of Akure Kingdom, conferred by His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, CFR, the Deji of Akure Kingdom,” Makinde wrote.
“We deeply appreciate this honour bestowed upon us by Kabiyesi as part of the celebrations marking his 10th anniversary on the throne. We pledge to continue contributing to the growth and well-being of Akure Kingdom. May Kabiyesi’s reign be long, peaceful, and prosperous.”
The ceremony drew dignitaries from across the region and further strengthened the cultural and political ties between Akure and Oyo States.
