Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed the reason behind his repeated interest in signing players from Chelsea, following the recent acquisition of Noni Madueke.

Madueke became the eighth player to make the switch from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates since Arteta took charge. His move, however, sparked mixed reactions among Arsenal fans, especially after the underwhelming impact of previous Chelsea signing Raheem Sterling.

Addressing the criticism, Arteta defended his transfer choices, stating that the focus has always been on player quality rather than club affiliation.

“Probably because they have some great players and a lot of them,” Arteta told reporters. “We don’t look at the badge. We focus on the qualities of the players we want to sign, regardless of where they’re coming from.”

Speaking about Madueke in particular, the Spaniard expressed excitement about the winger’s potential contribution: “With Noni, we’re very excited. He needs a short break now, but he’ll soon be with us, showing exactly what he can add to the team.”
