The Palace of Ogunsua of Modakeke has refuted a claim by the Oluoje of Ojenpetu, Oba Adeyinka Obawale accusing the Ogunsua, Oba Joseph Olu Toriola of orchestrating an attack on him and his community, urging the monarch to stop peddling lie.

The Ogunsua Palace, in a statement by its media committee signed by Chief Kola Olabisi, fingered the embattled Oluoje of being the mastermind of the crisis that erupted in his community by allegedly clashing with security agents.

Olabisi described the Ogunsua as a knowledgeable monarch who will not delve into any criminal acts.

The Palace’s statement read, “We state categorically and unequivocally that the unsubstantiated allegations of an attempt on his life against the Ogunsua is a blatant lie. The alleged attempt on his life and destruction of property by the self-styled monarch who relocated with his displaced community from Gadumo in Kogi State should be discountenanced as it is a ploy to malign the character and integrity of our revered traditional ruler.

“Kabiyesi Toriola is knowledgeable and well connected and acutely aware that it is criminal for anyone, irrespective of his status, to take the laws into his hand.

“We would not have bothered to dignify the frivolous allegation with a response if not for the fact that a lie persistently repeated might be taken for the truth by those who are not privileged to have access to authentic information about the issue at stake.

“It is the statutory duty of the police to keep law and order in society.
We wonder why Mr Olawale is blaming the Ogunsua and other members of his community for his collision with security agents.”

The Ogunsua Palace also accused Oba Obawale of attempting to destroy the legacies of the Modakeke and its traditional institution.

“The earlier the self-styled ‘Oluoje of Ojenpetu’ realises that he is not capable of being used to destroy the person of our monarch and community by his sponsor, the better it will be for him. The concerted efforts of his ill-conceived mission to export cataclysm into our community have fallen like a pack of cards.

“The allegation of Obawale that our peace-loving monarch is discriminating against the Fulani people is a blatant lie from the pit of hell.
The Modakeke community has, all along, been home to all Nigerians.

“What our community abhors is the harbouring of enemies of peace who we would not hesitate to hand over to security agents with a view to separating the law breakers from the peace-loving people.

“If anyone thinks our Kabiyesi would close his eyes and fold his hands while his community would be turned to a refuge or a training ground for bandits, cattle rustlers, kidnappers, armed robbers etc, such a person is making a mistake.
Our monarch and community leaders will not cease to continue to be focussed on peace and security in order to compliment the efforts of the local, state and Federal Governments to bring enduring peace to the nation.”

The community appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-general of the DSS, the National Security Adviser to extend their attention to the issue at stake, revealing that the Kabiyesi has briefed his lawyers to take a legal action against “the unscrupulous individual whose mission is to malign his character.”
