Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed plans to take a lengthy break from football once his time at the club comes to an end.

The 54-year-old Spaniard, who has guided City to 18 major trophies including six Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League crown, says he intends to prioritise his health after stepping down. His current contract with the club runs until 2027.

In an interview with GQ Spain, Guardiola confirmed that his decision to take a sabbatical is final.

“After this period at City, I will stop. That’s certain,” he said. “The decision is more than made.”

While he hasn’t determined how long the break will last, Guardiola said it could stretch for years.

“One year, two, three, five, ten, fifteen, I don’t know. But I know I need to stop and take care of myself and my body,” he added.

Guardiola has been at the helm of management at Manchester City since 2016.
