Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has dissolved the State Executive Council, bringing an end to the tenure of all serving commissioners.

In a statement issued Wednesday evening by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the dissolution was announced at the conclusion of the Executive Council meeting held in Makurdi.

Alongside the dissolution, Governor Alia announced the appointment of Mr. Moses Atagher, a seasoned administrator and former Acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank (FMB), as his new Chief of Staff.

The Governor expressed gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their contributions over the past two years. He encouraged those who may not be reappointed to remain committed to the party and continue to support the administration from within the political structure.

“Their exit is to create room for others to contribute their own quota to the development of our state,” he stated.

Speaking on behalf of the outgoing council members, the former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Bemsen Mnyim, thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve.

“Every opportunity to serve is a learning experience. We have gained a lot under your leadership,” Mnyim remarked.

The former commissioners have been instructed to hand over to the permanent secretaries in their respective ministries without delay.
