French prosecutors have officially requested that Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi stand trial on charges of rape stemming from an incident in 2023.

The Moroccan international, who denies the accusation, was indicted in March 2023 for allegedly assaulting a 24-year-old woman at his Boulogne-Billancourt residence.

The Nanterre prosecutor’s office has referred the case to an investigating judge, who will determine whether it should proceed to trial.

The woman alleges that Hakimi invited her to his home on February 25, 2023, while his family was away, after connecting through Instagram.

She told police that after he paid for her taxi, Hakimi made unwanted sexual advances and raped her. She later reached out to a friend who assisted her in leaving the home. Although she did not formally file a complaint, prosecutors moved forward with charges based on the available evidence.

Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, described the prosecution’s move as “incomprehensible,” asserting there is no credible evidence and claiming the footballer is a target of an attempted extortion. The woman’s attorney, Rachel-Flore Pardo, rejected this claim, stating her client feels relieved and is committed to pursuing justice.

At 26, Hakimi is a notable football star, having been instrumental in PSG’s 2025 Champions League victory and Morocco’s historic 2022 World Cup semi-final appearance. His career has also included time with Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Inter Milan.
