Atalanta have once again rejected an offer from Inter Milan for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, declining a package worth €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons, Insight Media Sports Arena reported.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Friday evening that Atalanta informed Inter of their decision, marking the second time the Serie A side has turned down an offer after an earlier €40 million bid was also rejected.

Although Lookman has already agreed personal terms with the Nerazzurri and is eager to complete the switch to San Siro, Atalanta remain firm in their demand for a €50 million valuation, which could include performance-related bonuses.

The club’s firm stance is partly influenced by a sell-on clause agreed during Lookman’s transfer from RB Leipzig. Under the terms of that deal, Atalanta must pay Leipzig 10% of any profit up to €20 million and 15% on any amount above that.

While Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà suggests Atalanta could be persuaded by a €45 million flat fee plus €5 million in bonuses, Inter are reportedly reluctant to increase their current offer.

With Atalanta refusing to lower their demands, Inter may be forced to shift focus to alternative transfer targets. Meanwhile, Premier League clubs are monitoring the situation, aware of the fee required to lure the Nigerian international away from Bergamo.

Lookman was notably absent from Atalanta’s squad for Saturday’s friendly against RB Leipzig in Germany. The club cited a calf injury sustained two weeks ago and the ongoing transfer discussions as reasons for his omission.

Since joining Atalanta from Leipzig for €10.8 million in 2022, the 27-year-old has netted 52 goals in 118 appearances. He played a vital role in the club’s 2024 Europa League triumph, famously scoring a hat-trick in the final.

Currently the reigning African Footballer of the Year, Lookman now awaits the next development in his protracted transfer saga, as Inter weigh their next move amid Atalanta’s firm stance.
