The Ogun State Police Command has commenced the prosecution of two suspects, Kadir Owolabi and Jamiu Yisa, who were allegedly found in possession of three human skulls in the Ijebu axis of the state.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said Owolabi was apprehended on Monday while riding a motorcycle along the Ijebu Ode/Ibadan Expressway at the Refugees Camp Junction, Oru Ijebu.

“On Monday, August 11, 2025, at about 2pm, a team of Mobile Police officers from 71 PMF Awa Ijebu was conducting a routine stop-and-search operation.

“During the exercise, officers intercepted one Kadir Owolabi, who was riding a motorcycle.

“A search of his luggage led to the shocking discovery of three human skulls,” Odutola said.

She further noted that initial investigations resulted in the arrest of 53-year-old Yisa behind the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.

“Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two men in connection with the unlawful possession of three human skulls in the Ijebu area of Ogun State,” she said.

Following the arrests, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to take charge of the matter for a thorough probe.

“The Ogun State Police Command reiterates its commitment to decisive action against crime and urges residents to cooperate with the command,” Ogunlowo stated.

“We assure members of the public of trust, confidentiality, and protection of their identity,” the statement added.
