Premier League clubs have set a new milestone in the transfer market, with a record-breaking £3 billion ($4 billion) spent during the 2025 summer window, according to figures released by financial experts Deloitte.
The window ended dramatically on Monday night as Liverpool confirmed the British-record signing of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak for £125 million, capping off a day of high-profile deals.
Deloitte’s report revealed that the total spend was approximately £650 million higher than the previous record of £2.4 billion set in 2023. It also marked the third consecutive summer in which overall spending surpassed £2 billion, and the first time it crossed the £3 billion mark.
The Premier League’s financial muscle continues to eclipse its European rivals, accounting for 51 percent of the combined expenditure across Europe’s “big five” leagues the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1.
Tim Bridge, lead partner at Deloitte’s Sports Business Group, noted:
“A third record-breaking summer of Premier League spending in four years sends a strong message that, even with reduced activity elsewhere in Europe, English clubs remain committed to investing heavily in top talent. With more Premier League teams competing in Europe than ever before, the league is determined to attract world-class players and strengthen its status as the most competitive in global football.”
