The Minister of Power and 2027 governorship aspirant in Oyo State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adebayo Adelabu, has said his ambition is rooted in service, not self-interest.

In a video that gained traction on social media Sunday morning, Adelabu declared that his motivation to contest comes from a desire to uplift the people of Oyo State, especially the poor and less privileged.

“I’ve been on this political journey for years. Politics and life have taught me that success doesn’t always come on the first try,” Adelabu said in Yoruba. “I’ve paid my dues I ran against Seyi Makinde in 2019 and again in 2023. Now, it is our turn it is my turn in 2027. Àwálòkàn! Penkelemesi Èmilòkàn!”

Adelabu first declared his 2027 ambition in July and has since intensified consultations across the state.

During a meeting with APC stakeholders in Oke-Ogun Zone 2, he pledged to prioritize Oyo’s development if elected. He called for unity within the party ahead of the upcoming congress, urging members to resist candidate imposition.

“Oyo belongs to APC. The PDP is only a tenant in Agodi Government House,” he said. “A divided house cannot win. We must unite and reclaim Oyo in 2027.”

Oke-Ogun Zone 2 includes six local government areas: Oorelope, Saki East, Saki West, Olorunsogo, Irepo, and Atisbo.

Adelabu assured party members that the APC would uphold internal democracy and fairness in selecting candidates.
