Veteran broadcaster and elder statesman, Dr. Christopher Kolade, has passed away at the age of 92.
His family announced the sad news in a statement issued on Thursday, confirming that he died peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
“We are thankful for his incredible life of faith and service, and are grateful for God’s abundant blessings,” the family stated.
Born on December 28, 1932, in Erin-Oke, Osun State, Kolade was the son of an Anglican missionary. He attended Government College, Ibadan, before proceeding to Fourah Bay College, Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he completed his higher education.
Kolade began his career in broadcasting and rose through the ranks to become Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation.
He later joined the private sector, where he served as Chief Executive and Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, earning widespread recognition for his commitment to ethical leadership and corporate reforms.
A respected diplomat, Kolade also served as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, where he was celebrated for his professionalism, diplomacy, and integrity.
He contributed extensively to academia, teaching Corporate Governance and Human Resources Management at the Lagos Business School, and Leadership and Conflict Management at the School of Media and Communication, both under Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos.
A former member of Pan-Atlantic University’s Governing Council, Kolade later became its Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, before serving as Chancellor of McPherson University, Ogun State.
Deeply devoted to promoting ethical standards in public and private institutions, he chaired several integrity-focused organisations, including Integrity Organisation Ltd GTE and The Convention on Business Integrity Ltd GTE.
Dr Kolade is remembered as a symbol of integrity, humility, and excellence, a man whose legacy of service and moral leadership will continue to inspire generations.
